It's a great detangler!!!

by Lekeisha
(Atlanta, Georgia)

French translation

Hello! I've got extremely thick and kinky curly hair.
I am African American with natural hair and many have told me they don't know how I keep a natural look and how I deal with combing.
Well I've discovered that After shampooing and conditioning and then rinsing with an apple cider vinegar solution, just blot dry your hair and then comb from end to root and you will notice how much easier it is to get the comb to go through without any pain at all.
It is a life saver for all my natural sistahs who complain about combing and who are tender headed like myself.
Peace!

Great detangler and shine
by: Anonymous

I have been using ACV for about 4 years now.

I have 4 girls and all of our hair comes to the middle of our back. We are African American and it is the best and only detangler for our hair. It also adds extreme shine.

However if you wear your hair curly you will not notice it, but if you blow dry and curl your hair with flat irons people will stop you and ask " how do you get your hair so shiny?"

I am not a hair stylist but I have gained several clientele just from the health of our hair.

Finally it reduces the split ends and breakage. I can go several months (about 6) without getting my ends clipped and when I go to get them clipped, I'm always told I don't need it.

OMG!

Ladies I am not being dramatic when I say that using that solution has literally changed my life.

I have had natural hair the last 7 years and I rarely EVER allow anyone to comb it but me because I am SUPER tender headed and my hair is normally super TANGLED.

I have contemplated going back to a relaxer on MANY occasions but did not go through with it because my husband loves natural hair.

Well thanks to the information from Lakesha I can FINALLY comb my hair without frustration and believe it or not TEARS! LOL I read her information and ran to try it and just about died when it actually worked!

Thank you so much Lakesha for passing on this information..I will be calling all my natural hair friends in the morning!

I had to hold myself back from doing it tonight because it is one plus in the morning.

Eternally grateful,
Sah

Yes, It really is a great Detangler!!!!!
by: Elle

I was very skeptical about using ACV in my hair. I am an African-American woman, currently transitioning from the traditional relaxer to using the japanese straightening relaxer.

However, I have to grow several inches of new growth before I can get this new relaxer done.

I had forgotten how difficult and overwhelming my natural hair can be to manage. After reading the blog by Lekeisha, I decided to do some further research and just recently purchased a book by Bragg, ACV Miracle Health System.

I tried the Hair rinse mixture on page 26. This is a leave-in treatment for adding shine and body, but I found it was also great for detangling my hair and leaving my hair feeling soft and manageable.

In the book they recommend using 1/3 cup ACV to 1 quart of water mixture in a handy plastic bottle and I suppose you spray the mixture into your hair as needed. However, when I used this "leave in treatment", I diluted the mixture (I was still skeptical) by using 1/4 cup to 1 quart and I used the entire mixture; I did not towel dry my hair (trying to avoid further tangles) instead I twisted my hair and used a plastic shower cap to catch the excess water. Before combing, I twisted out the excess water and using a long/large teeth comb, I began combing my hair starting from tip and working up towards the root.

I was truly amazed that my hair was easier to comb through and that my hair did not smell like acv. Which was my biggest concern.

My hair had a lot of body, but the shine was dull. I plan to do this treatment again using Bragg's mixture. Hopefully, I will get the shine.

Would like more info. please!
by: Girl6

Hi there!

As an African-American woman with hypothyroidism (part of my problem includes loss of hair) I'd appreciate any information on how to use ACV to stimulate hair growth or even as a detangler for myself and my daughter's natural hair.

I do have a relaxer and my hair is quite short. I 'd like to know are vinegar rinses good for relaxed hair as well? How much ACV should be used or mixed in how much water? And how often?

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I have a 5 year old son who is extremely tender headed. He gives us a hard time when we try to comb his long hair. We want to try acv. I guess you diluted a few teaspoon fulls it in water?

I can relate.

I use ACV on my 8 year old daughter's head at least monthly. You speak truth and it's good to read about other Af-Am women with positive experiences like myself. Thank you.
