I am so glad I found this site. I have been suffering with LPR (Laryngopharyngeal reflux) for 4 months now and it is miserable.

I have made every change in the book - lost weight, eating right, not eating before bed, taking Nexium and Carafate.
Nothing is working.

Just started taking ACV and I swear I feel better already but I will let you know. I am praying that this is the solution I have been waiting for.

Thank you!

Almost 10 years of baking soda, Nexium until Aetna wanted me to try something else, imagine, a large bottle of chewable acid reducers a week.

It began after going to bed so I've slept inclined head on 3 pillows until recently becoming GERD with projectile vomiting.
I could hit my dog across the room it was gross.. burns like hell in mouth, throat.. until today Dec 27-2011, I've not been able to just bent over, they say I have a hiatal hernia and my flap stays open.. yuck.. so I have to squat to put on my shoes.. I've had an upper GI, one endoscopy and since Oct I was told ASAP I need to have the flap fixed. A general surgeon will operate and turn my stomach more on it's side so the flap will close better.. what ?

This afternoon it was like a heart attack.. I drank 3 whole swallows from the ACV bottle.. I ate my first bowl of chili in all those years tonight.. I needed to tell you guys.. Gastro Drs. aren't in the loop.. their in Nexiums pockets..

I may have only 1 pillow tonight.

Ok, no food all day, traveled from CA to MI to Mom's house.

I'm 45 years old and 1-2 times per year I get a heart attack like reflux episode that lasts hours. Empty stomach and the first bite of my Mom's beef stew marinated in onions, and wham, have to leave the table. Chewed a half of a Zantac 150 to no avail (usually works). Cannot get anything down.

Groveled for ~1-1/2 hours before deciding to Google search and found this article. Of course my mom has everything, including cider vinegar. Mixed it with a little water, swallowed a little bit on all fours in the basement (was about to puke, really hard to get down), felt like napalm going down. 10 seconds later, ALL CURED and eating that stew and drinking (wine) as normal.

Amazing home cure.

Had to take the time to provide feedback.

After being diagnosed with GERD/acid relux for the past 10 yrs and taking prescription after prescription of Nexium/Prilose and several other very expensive prescriptions, I had come to accept this was going to my lifestyle.

A friend, at dinner, told me about ACV and how it has helped her with her acid reflux and side effect was weight loss.

I thought I would give it a try. I'm a nurse and not usually into trying homeopathic remedies. The 1st day, I had some relief, but thought it was just placebo effect, but by the 3rd day, I was feeling much better.

Been doing AVC 3 x day with water/honey before each meal and haven't taken any more prescription medication. Also, haven't felt this type of complete relief from acid reflux in years.

I'd say try it...and if it doesn't work for you, it makes wonderful foot soaks.

I just tried the ACV and am slowly feeling better.

But to the others whom it does not work, try an apple. Seriously, apples work great for me.

Some better than others. I want to say that Gala apples work good as well as granny smith and maybe red delicious apples. And the smaller apples (which I don't remember what they are called.)

I have suffered from acid reflux since 1988.
I ran out of my medication last night and the reflux hit me like a dagger in my chest.

I grabbed a bottle of no name cider vinegar out of the fridge and took down a shot with a water chaser @ 4:30am and voila the pain was gone.

I had heard about ACV but was too afraid to try it because you don't throw gas on a fire....

But it works.

Thanks to everybody who has said just go for it. What do you have to lose!!

Got food poisoning. Threw up for two days then ended up with horrible heartburn. Googled for cures and found out about ACV.

It worked in about 10 minutes and I got a good night's sleep and felt fine in the morning. Eating some chicken broth and yoghourt after two days of no food.

ACV works and I plan on using it for weight management also.

Went to the doctor today and was diagnosed with acid reflux. Been having pretty severe indigestion, and pretty much all the other symptoms of the nasty acid disease.

Tums were a major part of my bedtime routine. The doctor prescribed me Omeprazole for the acid reflux.

I took four 750 mg Tums at about 1 pm and then one Omeprazole around 5:15 pm. By about 7 pm I had the worst case of stomach acid indigestion I have ever had. I got dizzy and sweaty and literally felt like I was going to start vomiting stomach acid. It was SO AWFUL!!!

I had heard in the past that ACV was great for acid indigestion, but never tried it in the middle of an acid attack. I chugged a tablespoon with some water. I figured if it made me vomit then "oh well"-- I was so desperate that I was willing to try anything!

I was literally feeling 90% better within 10 minutes!!! Praise the LORD for apple cider vinegar!

It has been a few hours since I took the ACV and I have eaten a non-greasy meal since. I am somewhat starting to feel acidic/indigestion again, so think I will sip another smaller dose.

I am so amazed and excited! I plan to stick with the ACV instead of continuing the Omeprazole.

If you are suffering--TRY IT, TRY IT, TRY IT!

Seems counter-intuitive to drink something acidic to control stomach acid, but Apple Cider Vinegar works for me.

You don't have to drink it in water. I use ACV to make a pickled tomato and cucumber salad, sometimes with onions, and little salt and pepper.

Drink some water along with it and you've got your cure!

Have had GERD for years. Keep viscus lidocaine and Gaviscon on hand.

My attacks are as bad as a heart attack and last for hours. I take Prilosec daily but sometimes, stress will kick off the attack. I am a RN and did not believe the posts above but I was desperate an hour ago and I have been sipping white vinegar and water.

It is working slowly but the pain is much better. Waiting longer to see if it goes away completely before laying down for the night.

I really hope this works as you all have said it does.

My husband SUFFERED for 9 months with severe stomach pain.

The Dr's could not figure out what was wrong without doing a scope of his GI tract. We do not have health insurance and could not afford the scope or even the office visit to the specialist. Drs just kept adding more PPIs he was taking 80mg of Prilosec twice a day.

He was nauseous & dizzy all of the time. He could not eat, but eating was the only thing that gave him temporary relief. He couldn't sleep, his life was falling apart. He was unable to work. He started talking about suicide because he was so desperate to not feel sick anymore.

That night while he slept I scoured the internet desperately searching for something to help. I came across ACV. I didn't think it would work, but what did we have to lose?

I went the next morning and bought it. After drinking 2 doses of it, he noticed a big difference. He didn't feel perfect, but definitely improved. By the 7th day (he drinks it 3x daily) he felt 100% better. In fact he was more energetic, his stomach was fine, his blood pressure & sugar were normal. He says he has not felt this good in over 20 years.

It is amazing that a $4 bottle of organic ACV did what numerous trips to Dr's and emergency rooms could not. We swear by it!

Apple cider vinegar works to a degree, but it is NOT a cure.

For three months now I am using a restricted diet, strong probiotics, digestive enzymes but nothing is curing the heartburn and stomach spasms.

ACV helps take away the worse of the symptoms, but if I forget to take it, the symptoms jump right back.

Does any bona fide, qualified medical doctor or academic out there know of a test that determines if one has too much or too little stomach acid production?

After taking Prilosec and other treatments for GERD for years, I was determined to get off prescription meds altogether.

I read all the glowing reports about ACV and bought a bottle of Braggs with "the mother" and tried it for a week.

I was bitterly disappointed that it didn't work for me. I was still taking TUMS and occasionally baking soda (sodium bicarb)throughout the day to try to stop the burning. I can't believe it worked so well for all the people writing on this site yet it didn't work for me.

Guess we're all different. If anyone has any other natural ideas please let me know.

Guess I'll have to go back on the Prilosec!

My Mother-In-Law is always telling me about some new natural thing she read on the net. Most of the time I take what she tells me with a grain of salt.

A few months back I started having some killer heartburn that woke me up from a deep sleep. I couldn't go back to sleep, so I got online to chat with friends who live abroad.

She was online, and so I told her about the heartburn. She told me about the Apple Cider Vinegar remedy.

I was feeling pretty darn miserable, so I gave it a try. Not fifteen minutes later, I felt a-ok! I was truly amazed at how well and fast it worked.

Now, every time I go out where I know I might eat something that will give me some heartburn, I take a shot of the ACV before I go, and another before I go to bed. I've not had heartburn since.

I've taken Zantac for years for acid reflux. When I changed my diet to a diabetic type diet, the acid reflux disappeared.

Lately, I've fallen off the diet wagon and the reflux returned. Last night I realized I was out of Zantac and it was too late to go out. It was so bad I frantically searched the web for answers.

I saw the ACV solution . Well, I didn't have any ACV, but I did have distilled white vinegar. I knew the problem was the pH balance in my stomach, and that I didn't have enough acid in there to digest the food, so I figured I'd give my distilled white vinegar a try.

I had to do it twice, two tablespoons mixed in water, chugged, and the symptoms went away. Immediately.

No more Zantac for me! Of course when I get back on the diet wagon, I won't need it, but why take pills when there's a natural, SAFE remedy in your kitchen???

Was getting over a cold virus and developed reflux which caused me to wake up at 3pm night after night.

Finally realized it was reflux, found the info online about ACV and decided to give it a try.

I was able to go back to sleep and slept the rest of the night without a problem.

I had a lot of problems with heartburn over ten years ago.

I took Nexium for a year but it wasn't long lasting. I then began eating tums and that seemed to control it at the time but it kept coming back within days or even hours.

Can't remember who told me to try Apple Cider Vinegar. I didn't get any advice on how so I simply chugged a tablespoonful. The heartburn went away instantly and didn't come back for MONTHS.

Now whenever it does come back, I chug one or two tablespoons of vinegar and the same thing happens all over again.

The most fun I've had with this is telling doctors about it. You should see the expressions on their faces!

I have a bottle of Cider Vinegar on hand and on advise from an article, I tried a teaspoon to 1/2 cup of warm water. Instant relief!!! First time!!!

I won't be using the prescription. Not because I'm cheap, I have insurance, but I know I need to change my diet and habits and stick with the vinegar.

I started having Acid Reflux about 2 years ago. It woke me from sleep every night.

A friend told me to use a couple of tablespoons in a glass of water before bed. All I had was wine vinegar.

I have not experienced a single incident since I started using it. I believe that the percentage of Acid is what's important for relief, not so much whether or not it's ACV, Wine, or Grain vinegar.

I suffered from a heartburn/acid reflux problem for several years, though admittedly, never went to a Doc for confirmation (I've always been weary of prescription drugs and the side effects).

I got that burn in my chest and throat mostly when I went to bed, but at other times as well. I mostly used Pepto, (though it only gave very temporary relief), but nothing really worked. Again, this went on for years and I just got "used" to the problem, until I started working in the Middle East.

I found myself unable to get Pepto, so a friend tells me to take a shot of vinegar/water twice a day for two weeks, and follow that up with once a day for 2 months. I was pretty skeptical, but being that I was stuck there for the next year or so, I gave it a shot.

To my amazement, it started working almost immediately. I followed his "regiment", and here it is over 5 years later, and I've NEVER had heartburn or that "acid reflux" since. No more Pepto, no more sore chest/throat, and most of all, no more trouble laying down/sleeping.

For the skeptics, try it anyway (I did), and this did more than just help, it CURED my problem.

I originally bought the ACV due to all the stuff said about helping weight loss. I got food poisoning one weekend and after I started to heal up I was getting horrible acid reflux to the point I wanted to cry.

I did some research on Google and 90% of the remedies said to take some ACV.

Low and behold I had a bottle of organic ACV in my fridge. The stuff is pure disgusting tasting so I mixed a tablespoon or more with a cup of water and down the hatch it went (still horrid) chased it with plain bottled water.

Less then 5 minutes later, I was feeling much better for the next few hours till I had to do it again. But it is well worth it because heartburn and acid reflux is horrible.

Give it a try. If it doesn't help you then you won't be out much money. I think I spent like 5 bucks or something for a bottle of Bragg ACV that will last me the 3 year shelf life or so it says it has.

It's worth the gross taste.

I am amazed. I was looking for relief for acid reflux as I do not have insurance and did not want to take powerful drugs. I was already living off Pepcid AC and tums around the clock.

Today is day 3 and I am feeling changes I was not expecting. I wake up IN THE MORNING and my first thought is I don't feel my stomach. I feel so normal, like I used to a long time ago.

If you are on the fence about trying this, I don't think you have anything to lose.

I started with a lower dose because I was worried about adding acid to acid. So I take just a tsp in 4 oz of water with some honey a few times a day - less than some recommend - and the results are pretty unbelievable.

Good Luck All!

I would love to hear from singers who suffer from reflux.

I've had 2 endoscopies, barium x-rays, ultrasound, blood tests and a laryngoscopy. The doctors couldn't find anything significant. The acid trickles down into my trachea, which houses the vocal cords, and into my lungs.

My career has been severely derailed by reflux.

I stopped taking it and now I'm trying the ACV, hoping that I benefit as so many on the site have. Would love to hear from other professional singers.

Good luck to everyone!

I was experiencing major discomfort feeling as if my throat was closing and would burp incessantly. I was unemployed at the time (the stress made it worse)and had no medical insurance to go to the doctor.

After perusing the internet I felt pretty sure it was symptoms of GERD/Acid Reflux. Also I had a habit of eating late and going to bed soon thereafter which didn't help.

I immediately started the Apple Cider Vinegar remedy as well as cut back on eating foods that one should avoid and eating late. The remedy began working! Also, I incorporated Pro-biotics which helped as well. I avoid eating late but can now eat the foods that I once avoided.

Thank God this worked especially not having medical insurance. I highly recommend ACV before or after meals and pro-biotics once a day.

I have just finished 5 days of taking acv (2 tbs) with (1/2 tsp) baking soda, before each meal.

Last week I could hardly eat. The week before I was told I had Silent reflux and given a prescription to fill. Instead I did the "acv prescription."

Last night I went out to dinner and ate lamb, scallops in buttery grits and a glass of white wine. I felt so good today, I ate a frozen yogurt ice cream for lunch!!

You have nothing to lose by trying this remedy before doing prescription drugs which may be dangerous to your system. Life is too short to live on rice and water.

You must read this if you are thinking about taking ACV. I am in good physical shape but like to consume a few alcoholic beverages on a regular basis.

I been suffering from heartburn for 10 years did not do anything about it. Five weeks ago I woke up in the middle of the night with severe chest pains and could not breath, felt like heart attack, fell into a panic attack.

Drove myself to the ER at the hospital. After all kinds of tests (blood, ECG, EKG etc), the doctor determined I was suffering from GERD. Prescribed Pantoprazole and told me to curb my alcohol and caffeine intake

I took the medication for two weeks and conditions improved where I could sleep, drink and eat. I am not big on taking medication so I stopped taking the medication. Within five days the GERD was back causing me to wake up every night suffering from asthma attacks and chest pains (it was becoming a living hell).

I stumbled upon this site and through desperation started taking ACV. Within three days, I was able to sleep through most of the night. Would have to wake up at 4:00 a.m. to clear my throat from acid build up

This past Thursday and Friday (total of 7 days consuming ACV) I slept through the entire night. Felt incredible - so last night was out for dinner had 1 beer, two glasses of wine, chocolate cake. I forgot to take my ACV prior to bedtime.

Woke up again with asthma attack. Consumed my ACV and as of posting the article, my symptoms are gone.

Time to go back to bed and get some rest. The moral of my story: curb alcohol intake and consume ACV on a regular basis. YOU WILL BE HAPPY YOU DID!

Thank you to this website and all the people that have posted your experience without you I don't know where I would be. I am a firm believer in ACV and it works. I will update all of you in two weeks on my progress. I expect I will have great news... Good night!

Oh My Goodness! That is the best way to put it! I ask myself where has this natural treatment been for the past year of my life.

I absolutely did not know anything about acid reflux. My first case of it was after eating breakfast one day and could not figure out why I felt dizzy and had to vomit, I thought Mmmmm, I'm not pregnant...Ever since then the episodes became more frequent.

I went to the doctor and was prescribed nexium. I attempted to get the nexium and found out that it was going to cost me $500.00, that was definitely a no, no. I ended up losing weight and decided to do something about it.

After doing my research on the web, I came across the acv..Now I am in heaven. I am now gaining weight after three weeks of drinking the acv...This is indeed AWESOME, and I will recommend it to the world.

I'm three months pregnant and have been having increasingly severe acid reflux.

During pregnancy, the body produces more progesterone, which inhibits the lower esophageal sphincter from closing properly.

I was at my wits end, and called my doctor. She called in a prescription medication, but I was very concerned about taking it, and the pharmacist wasn't very keen on me taking it so early in the pregnancy either.

A friend with a new baby recommended 1-2 teaspoons of ACV in water to help.
What a HUGE relief! A natural, non-harmful remedy that has stopped the acid reflux, allowed me to eat again (I was losing weight from not eating enough) and I feel so much better.

I have been suffering from acid reflux on and off for 2 years now.

Recently about a month ago it has hit me worse than ever! I've been to the ER, and gastro-doctors, and they all found nothing. They just make me take prilosec, which I hate because of how upset my stomach feels on it.

Somehow, my acid reflux gives me headaches as well, and it is unbearable sometimes.

Today is my first try with ACV. It has been 3 hours since I've taken it, and believe me, it works! My stomach is feeling better, I can breathe better, and the only thing that is lingering around is my headaches, which will probably go away in a day or so.

I will take this ACV for a week and see how I feel. I'm so glad I don't have to take drugs to calm my acid reflux!

I have been on Lanzoprazole for Acid Reflux for ten years and really wanted to come off them because this condition has been ruling my life.

If I missed taking taking a pill in the morning I would begin to suffer mid way through the day. I would even panic if I was going away on holiday and thought I may run out of my prescription pills and then my girlfriend heard about ACV and bought me some. I was sceptical about it but thought what the hell.

All I can say is I am utterly amazed, I have never gone over one day without my prescription pills but after taking ACV I am now on my third day without them.

I also drink ACV everyday in water. Dr can't believe my acid reflux is gone. He's amazed.

I did not think this would work but I was desperate for relief.

My wife heard about this from her grandmother and suggested it about 10 times before I gave in and tried. We were on vacation and my acid reflux was ruining our trip. I had taken prescription medications and had experienced all the side effects and was no longer getting the benefits. That was last winter and for a year now I have been able to completely control it.

For the first time in years I was able to sleep through the night. I used to wake with the taste and smell of burning tires in my mouth after just a few hours but now I feel great, sleep through the night and no longer need to take any prescription drugs.

I drink 2 cap fulls in a glass of 6-8 ounces of cold water over ice. I brush, rinse and head to bed.

Occasionally I will have a glass in the day time if I have the start of symptoms and it is done. This worked for me and is worth trying if you have experienced persistent heart burn.

I decided to give it a try and found it MUCH more effective than any of the prescriptions I had been taking.

There is one caveat though: it works best if taken BEFORE eating, as afterwards it seems to add more fuel to the fire rather than preventing it in the first place. I used Braggs ACV (with the 'mother') as it was more palatable than the commercial brands.

My list of issues at the time I started this sounds like many of the rest of you: Hiatal hernia, GERD, I.B.S. on top of it (subsided to almost never after I got rid of the upper-end pain - maybe unique, but think the stress of Acid Reflux contributed heavily to IBS symptoms).

I heartily recommend this.

I have been desperately searching for a cure to this terrible condition LPR (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux).

This year has been horrible! It seems that every month or every two weeks I go through this relentless coughing, choking to the point of vomiting episodes. It has interfered with my socializing because I can't carry on a decent conversation without the coughing. And being invited to dinner is awful because with every bite, there is the cough.

It is crazy!! Sleeping through the night just does not happen due to the coughing. I was diagnosed with LPR and put on Prilosec OTC which I have been taking for several months now.

It seemed to work for a while and then I got off. When I started back this time, I find that it is not working as well and will probably need to increase the dosage which I don't want to do in light of the new findings on these types of meds.

I ran across the this site and immediately ran to the Nutrition Center for Braggs Apple Cider. I began taking it as soon as I got back in my car!!!

I am sure praying that this will work since I don't have the money to do all those tests (Barium swallow and the pH-metry). Plus I don't really ant to take the other medications if I can get by without it.

So.. this is my first day trying the acv and am expecting to get the results that most of you seem to have experienced. I will keep you posted.
PS This LPR really can make your life miserable!!!!

I spent 4 years on Ranitidine and then the last 9 or so on Prilosec.

These controlled my symptoms well but after reading recently about links between Prisolec / Omeprazole and osteoporosis I decided to search for a natural cure.

Today, for the first time in 13 years I did not pop a pill. 1 teaspoon of ACV, straight, before dinner. 3 hours later and I'm feeling good. Amazing. Why don't doctors know this? Or if they know, why don't they tell you?

I have also bought the "Heartburn No More" ebook by Jeff Martin, which is what led me to ACV. I think the book is worth the money for anyone looking for a natural way to eliminate the *causes* of heartburn, not just the symptoms.

I'm just getting started with the program, though, so can't say much more.

Good luck to us all, comrades.

Almost 4 years after being cured of a stomach disorder, I started having pains in the chest and difficulty breathing. I immediately thought it was my heart.

The challenge was to manage my different medications, including when to take them. Three years later, no progress.

I now have pains at night around my sternum. The doctor started prescribing different proton pump inhibitor medications, but the pain returns along with unsightly swelling once the medication is stopped.

Upon reading this internet page, I immediately bought some apple cider vinegar. The effect was magic! A spoon in a glass of water in the evening. After 3 days I don't feel anything.

Thank God for apple cider vinegar and those who made this information available.

I started drinking ACV to lose weight, using a link to my friend's Internet site.

I was very surprised to see my acid reflux return! It had stopped since a month, after I stopped drinking coffee. I was very disappointed. I persisted a few days... but to no avail. I then came back to the site and read the testimonials.

Then, I had an idea. What if I,

1)- used room temperature water, rather than iced water, as I had been doing?

2)- ENJOYED my drink and have it slowly, like an aperitif, rather than wolf it down?

It worked! The heartburn symptoms have ceased gradually.

We are now January 10, 2011, and I have not had any acid reflux for 5 days.

I will continue to drink ACV to lose weight and to heal my stomach completely. I will publish again soon.

Thanks to Rejane & Wayne!

Several months ago I developed extreme pain, nausea, and other symptoms.

First it seemed like gastritis, then maybe an ulcer. Finally, I had an upper-GI x-ray and was diagnosed with hiatal hernia and reflux.

My doc recommended 1 TBL of apple cider vinegar (I use Bragg's) before each meal and vegan digestive enzymes (I'm vegan).

By day 3, my nausea was GONE. The pain has not recurred either.

It's been about a week and a half and I've got my life back!!!
