Amount of blood sugar reduction with ACV:

Apple Cider Vinegar and Diabetes Testimonials

The next graph above shows the % reduction in blood sugar levels reported by 21 of the 37 vinegar users with gestational diabetes, pre diabetes or type 2 diabetes from January 2011 to December 2012.

Some of the users took the blood sugar readings after meals and others in the morning before breakfast but in both cases the average reduction in blood sugar levels after taking vinegar was about 30%.

The range in reported reading varied from a low of 9% reduction to as much as 60% reduction and some of this varibility could be due to:

  • the amount of vinegar taken per treatment which varied from 1 teaspoon (5 ml) to 4 tablespoons (60 ml). Most users took 2 tablespoons (30 ml).

  • the use of different types of vinegars other than apple cider vinegar such as pomegranate, wine and white distilled vinegar.

  • the use of ACV tabletes (2 persons).

Hi all, I had truly hoped this would work for me; unfortunately it didn't.

I had numerous side effects of bloating, constipation and a rise in blood pressure.

I took 2tbs 2x's daily mixed with water...still nasty but you get used to it after awhile.

Oh well!! Good luck to all.

Apple cider vinegar has really done wonders in stabilizing my blood sugar.

My fasting blood sugar was about 250 to 290 before I started using ACV. At that time didn't eat anything after 8 pm, drink sodas, use white flour or sugar. I ate lots of veggies, chicken and fish. When I started taking the ACV I was taking Metformin and Actos. First I took 2 teaspoons of ACV in vegetable juice before I went to bed and noticed an immediate drop the next morning.

In the last couple of weeks I’ve increased it to 6 tablespoons of ACV per day – 2 in my vegetable juice in the morning and in the evening, and 2 in a water bottle that I take to work and sip all day. This morning my FBS was 115.

At this stage I’m still taking my prescription meds in lower dose but hope to wean off them with the agreement of my doctor. Since I've been taking the ACV I've been able to feel the physical effects of my blood sugar dropping, feeling very good. My skin has improved and I've also notice a slight improvement in my eyesight.

Thank you so much.

After being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes recently Aug 2012 my A1C was a 10.9.

I take meds and began research on acv. I tried it and could not tolerate the taste and found it in a pill/vitamin form. I take 3 before bed, cut my carbs, and cut sweets. Basically eat sensible for a diabetic.

In less than 2 months I brought my A1C down to a 8.4 and lost almost 15 lbs.

Depending on my meals my sugar now gets no higher than 150.

I have had high triglycerides for as long as I can remember. My father's doctor mentioned to him once that "anecdotal evidence" suggests that ACV will lower triglycerides. I didn't give it much thought back then, but at my last check up, my doctor decided I am pre-diabetic and she is willing to go against standards and label me diabetic now even though my numbers don't meet the current medical criteria.

Since I refuse to take unnecessary medications, I am taking a second look at ACV. The stories on your site give me a lot of hope, and two days ago I started drinking 1 oz. ACV in 8 oz. water with a little MiO or Stevia to cover the bitterness and bring out the apple taste. I drink it before each meal and will add a bedtime drink, too, after this.

The doctor won't have my numbers tested again until November, but I'm sure they'll be down. I'm willing to bet my weight will be, too, as I've already lost about 3 pounds! Fingers crossed.

Update: November 19, 2012

Update to my comment on Sept. 21

I posted a couple of months ago that I was going to try this to see if I could finally get my triglyceride numbers under control.

I am happy to say that as of today, my triglycerides have gone down over 100 pts. (198 --> 90) My a1c has also gone down, but not as dramatically. (6.2 --> 6.0) I've also lost 20 pounds.

Praise the Lord for the people that pointed me to this research.

My blood sugar spiked 14 mmol/l - 90 minutes after meals.

I started to drink ACV before meals and checked my blood sugar after 90 minutes. It is now 5,6 mmol/l.

In the beginning, I did not believe the readings and checked 14 days and the results were the same.

ACV is the best herbal medicine for blood pressure and blood sugar.

Before I started using ACV I read some comment from the internet then I went on and bought it, then my glucose level was 117gm/dl.

I took it for almost two weeks and went for another test. It was an amazing result, the number dropped to 102.

But I am still taking it up till now.

I am 35 weeks pregnant with gestational diabetes.

This is my second pregnancy with this disease. I'm currently on 5 mg of Glyburide twice a day.

My numbers would range from 100-120 fasting and since I started ACV they have ranged from 80-100.

I was amazed. ACV does do miracles.

I have just been diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

My 2 hour post meal reading was 8.0 and climbing.

I take Glucotrol 10 mg., my fasting sugar was 145 to 200 before, now it is 73 to 130. As long as I don't overdo it with carbs, it stays good.

Has anyone with gestational diabetes tried ACV? I am 33 weeks pregnant and would like to avoid pills and insulin if at all possible.

Thank you in advance.

I've been diabetic with Type II for approximately 10 years.

My numbers kept going up from the time I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and medications that didn't seem to work. My doctor finally put me on insulin, slow acting and fast acting. This enabled me to get my levels down to the proper levels.

In this New Year, I decided to try the Insulin Resistant Diet by Cheryl Hart and Mary Kay Grossman. This has made an incredible difference and I've been able to go off insulin altogether.

Then I heard about ACV in the book, and have tried using Red Wine Vinegar (I didn't have any ACV) for the past couple of days.

My levels have been in the 5's 2 hours after meals and low 6's fasting. I didn't know about taking it at bedtime and will try that too!

I am still on 2 Metformin 2x per day, but I am ecstatic about my progress. I've lost approximately 10 lbs. in 3 wks on the diet. I will continue!

Every evening I drink 4 oz of pomegranate vinegar mixed with a Benifiber packet and 16 oz of water.

I now have normal blood glucose numbers. I'm also walking and eating healthy. I like the taste of the pomegranate vinegar better than apple cider.

I have to say I was a bit doubtful. My sugar readings after dinner are around 180.

Tonight after reading all this hoopla I took two table spoons of acv with my meal. A half hour later I told my wife come see what happens when I take this reading... Behold I was reading 130.

This was to much too be true so tonight I'm taking two more spoons of acv with lemon and Splenda to make it more tasteful.

My morning readings are always 130. I will follow up with you all after taking my readings sunday morning..cheers

I have type 2 diabetes and pcos (I get coarse hair on chin and acne).

Past month I've been taking 1 tsp ACV before each meal and it has lowered my sugar levels from 140 down to 90's (my diet is medium to low carbs, veggies, occasional desserts, high carb foods once or twice a week).

I noticed I feel more energetic. So far, lost 4 lbs, no more itchy on my scalp or different body parts. If I have any cuts or wounds, they heal faster. My acne stopped and hair chin is gone.

My hair on head stopped falling out (that's a plus). I brush my teeth with baking soda toothpaste after every meal or rinse my mouth with water to help prevent acid wear on teeth.

So far, I'm getting positive results and will continue to take Apple Cider Vinegar. Oh, and I include at least 30 min. exercise, 3-4 times a week. ACV is my savior, no more meds :)

Hi Everyone,

PLEASE make sure and list how much ACV you take daily, how you take it, and how often you take it.

This will help all of us understand what is the best way to take it, and how much to take to see good results.

I am a Type 2 diabetic and just started taking it today in the hopes it will help me to lower my blood sugar readings. I plan on taking 2 tablespoons twice a day, mixed with 16 oz of unsweetened Apple Juice to help mask the flavor.

My current regimen to lower my blood sugar includes 2000 mg daily of Metformin, 2 caps twice a day (the mg strength shown is for each cap) of Gymnema Sylvestre 400 mg, Fenugreek 625 mg, Alpha Lipoic Acid 300 mg, Benfotiamine (Vit B1) 268 mg, Glucomannan 700 mg, Cedar Berries 450 mg, Tart Cherry Extract 465 mg, Cinnamon 500 mg, 1 cap daily of Blood Sugar Formula by Vitabase.

I get the best prices for these ingredients from Swanson Vitamins online, the Blood Sugar formula from Vitabase, and the Cedar Berries from doctorvitaminstore online. And I only take the Cedar Berries & Cinnamon with heavier meals to avoid heartburn.

I realize these are a lot of pills, but by doing this I have been able to stay away from Insulin shots and have dropped my morning blood sugar readings from 250-300 to 120-130 in about 3 months time. I also try to eat and drink as low carb as possible and try to stay away from anything made with Flour.

I understand I still need lower readings, and my readings after eating are still in the 250's, so I am hoping adding ACV to my regimen will help. I also walk on a treadmill at my gym M-F for an hour, and take two Multivitamins, 3 Fish Oil Omega 3 caps, and 20k IU's of Vit D3 a day.

Good luck to everyone, and let's keep each other informed and updated on how well ACV works for us.

So keep coming back and post updates all!

Take care.. =)

Can anyone tell me if they have had success taking ACV and having Type 1?

If so, please include how much ACV/water you take and what time of day you take it. I was diagnosed with Type 1 two months ago and up until 1 week ago my sugars would still hit the high 100's.

But frequently I'll wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning feeling funny---I check my sugar and with this feeling it's always low!

Another problem I'm having is complete fatigue---honestly, I could sleep all night and through the whole day too.

Has anyone experienced this? Stress is added because I'm in my first year of college about 2000 miles from home. I would appreciate any tips from those of you with experience with Type 1.

I am just starting ACV. Like for 2 days.

Do you have to take it with water? I have been taking 1 1/2 TBS. plain. Blood sugar already seems to have dropped quite a bit. Am going to try taking it at bedtime as well.

I have been taking 2 ACV tablets a day for a year or so and never could see much difference in my readings, but the ACV liquid looks to be doing the job.

I hope my readings continue to improve as you all have.

I was told a year ago I am type 2 diabetic and I am on insulin and pills. They are working for the most part but last night I had a high of 258 and a friend told me about vinegar and all I have in my home is white distilled vinegar. So I tried it.

Within an hour, it went down 70 and when I woke up this morning it was 116 and I was so happy.

Vinegar does taste nasty but it helped me and I will keep using it. I was also told it could help lose weight so I am looking into that as well.

I am a Type II diabetic but have managed my blood sugar through exercise and diet as well as a few supplements.

Recently I started taking a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) with a glass of water once a day.

The results have been very good, I check blood sugar once a day when I wake up and normal see anywhere from 102-118. In the past 2 weeks since starting ACV I have never been above 96 and I now seeing 84-89 every day even with foods I would not normally eat.

Caution still prevails and I am very careful 90% of the time about what I eat.

Would be interested to hear any other experience on ACV.

I've had my blood sugar reading at 280, before that I am suffering from itchiness all over my body, haven't tried consulting a doctor but my friend told me that it might be a diabetes symptoms, and indeed, since my mom and brother are type 2 diabetics.
But I also learned that taking pills to control diabetes will add more problems due to the complications it will do to my system.

After a long search from the internet, looking for a natural remedy, I happen to read about ACV. Its amazing cause the itchiness was gone and I can sleep soundly at night and energetic the whole day by just taking 2tbsp of ACV before meals.

And to my husbands surprise, his long time fungal skin disease on his in-between fingers which bothers him so much was gone and freed him also from itch.

I know I have controlled my blood sugar level. | can feel it even without the docs advise. Thanks to ACV and the Bragg family. I also thank God for letting me find the remedy with a very low cost. THANKS PAUL AND PATRICIA.

I've had Type 2 now since 2005.

I just recently found out about ACV. The doctors have had me on 2000mg Metformin, 15mg glyburide, and 100mg Jaunvia a day.

Even with all this, my blood sugars in the morning were 140 to 170 and 150 to 200 during the day.

I've been on ACV for about a month and now my morning numbers are 100 to 105 and 120 to 130 during the day.

I've been able to reduce my medication Metformin to 500mg and dropped the other two.

In another 30 days I plan on dropping the Metformin. My last A1C was 6.4 and I go next month for a checkup and I feel it will be even lower then.

I was diagnosed with type II diabetes years ago and have never been satisfied with the explanations and rational of the medical professionals treating me on either side of the border.

As a result, my use of the meds they gave me was sporadic. I felt no better on them than off them, and my blood sugar levels only leveled off (at too high a level for my liking) when I was on them, they never improved.

After having read about AVC, I gave it a shot this morning.
Sugar level after 2 slices of toast with tea...246.
Followed 1/2 the protocol suggested, checked in an hour...210.
Did the other half of the protocol, checked an hour later...186.

Will continue the protocol before every meal and before bed and post regular updates here.

Feeling far more energetic now than I have in a while, and my feet and hands are tingling. Taken as a good sign, given neuropathy.

Update: May 08, 2011

I'm back.
Results of over one month of ACV use, two tablespoons ACV to 4 oz water, 1/2 hr prior to and 1.5 hrs after each meal. MGDL Levels in early March, upon waking, in the mid to high 200's. After one week, 'fasting' levels in the mid to high 100's. At the end of the month, 'fasting' levels in low 100's. This was coupled with noticeable decrease in appetite (more alkaline stomach lining?), far more energy, and far less drowsiness.
During said time I largely removed all forms of high sugar/high 'fast' carb foods from meals (ayurvedic eating plan).

I believe the ACV also made it easier for me to undertake a 20 day fast in April (no real hunger pangs at the outset), which I undertook to test how my body was reacting to sugar stored in adipose tissue. As I was not exceedingly overweight, weight loss was not a primary goal in mind for the fast. I did note that all forms of bloating around my upper diaphragm went away though.

All MGDL readings during the fast remained in the low 70's to low 100's, making me question the allopaths contentions that my body has difficulty processing normal levels of sugars or properly controlling insulin. You'd be well advised to discuss ACV usage and fasting with your physician (if you have medical coverage) prior to undertaking said or changing your medication.

I will likely stay on this protocol (and changes in diet) for the rest of my life, as it has worked far better for me than the "actos plus met" that I had been placed on.

I have pancreatitis due to high triglycerides.

Recently home from my second hospitalization in three years and my sugars will not come down. Morning sugars were around 306. The lowest was around 215.

Last night I took 3 tablespoons of white vinegar in 4 ounces of water and this morning my fasting blood sugar was 178. Much improved from 300. Today I am starting ACV before each meal...we will see.

Also, I don't eat what I want. I eat meals in low fat and low carbs due to the type 2 diabetes and the pancreatitis. Nothing has worked. Also am on Metformin. It was NOT working. ACV WORKS!

I encourage anyone struggling to regulate their blood sugar levels as a type 2 diabetic to give it a try...you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I am thankful to God for bringing me to this information.

I started using acv pills about a month ago and it help lower my glucose levels so well, I thought I might not be diabetic anymore.

My sugar is better than it has been in ten years. It's not that I didn't try before, it just wouldn't work like it's supposed to.

I take glucotrol 10 mg., my fasting sugar was 145 to 200 before, now it is 73 to 130. As long as I don't overdo it with carbs, it stays good.

The acv pills really do work, do what I did, just try it. Seems like an all natural substance to me, no side effects so far. See it it works for you. Wouldn't hurt to try, that's the way I looked at it.

By the way.....even when I did overdo it, my sugar was not over 150!

Hope this helps someone who feels helpless like there was no hope of getting it to normal. It is very discouraging when you are really trying and it does no good. ACV pills give you the power.

Good luck!
