Only 4% of responders mentioned that this natural home remedy did not work for them.

Amount of blood sugar reduction with ACV:

Diabetes and Apple Cider Vinegar Testimonials

The graph above shows the percent reduction in blood sugar levels reported by 12 of the 30 vinegar users with pre diabetes or type 2 diabetes from January 2013 to December 2015.

Some of the users took the blood sugar readings after meals and others in the morning before breakfast and the average reduction in blood sugar levels after taking the vinegar was about 25%.

The range in reported reading varied from a low of 10% reduction to as much as 67% reduction and some of this varibility could be due to:

  • the amount of vinegar taken per treatment which varied from 1 tablespoon (15 ml) to 6 tablespoons (90 ml). Most users took 2 tablespoons (30 ml).

  • the use of different types of vinegars other than apple cider vinegar such as white distilled vinegar.

  • person to person variability. (our bodies all react a little differently)

I tried it last night with 1 ounce of cheese.

My endo wanted me to start taking Glimerpiride at night to lower my fasting blood sugar since it was running between 137-159.

I don't want to add the Glimepiride since it causes weight gain so I tried ACV last night.

My blood sugar was 125 this morning! So I am cautiously optimistic!!

I tried 2 Tbsp ACV with 1 cube of cheese last night around 11:00.

My FPG has been 5.8, 5.8, 6.4( then after 1 hour of being awake with no food I jumped to 7.2) and then today after the ACV I was 7.0 (10 hour fast)

It seemed to make my number increase.

I will keep trying it but does anyone have any insights as to why on certain days I am 5.8 but other days I get up in the 7's?

And also why that one day an hour difference from waking up and test had my blood sugar jump a whole point?

I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, A1c 6%, almost a year ago.

I cut most of the simple and starchy carbs out of my diet. Usually eating protein and veggies.

Read about ACV in a book.

Eating 1/2c oatmeal would give a blood sugar reading of 146mg/dl. Drinking 1TB ACV in water before eating 1/2 c oatmeal, elevated blood sugar to 119mg/dl.

I even found that drinking more vinegar, before, during eating carbs, and after didn't elevate blood sugar as much. This strategy is good to a point. You can't go crazy eating carbs and expect vinegar to keep your blood sugar down.

I can't drink vinegar straight, it burns my throat. I also found vinegar tablets weren't as effective, have to take 20 tabs to get equivalent amount of acetic acid as 1 Tb liquid vinegar.

Now, I drink my vinegar in my green drink (soy protein, carrot, kale, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, flax seeds, almonds, vinegar, splenda, water blended). Green drink is a much more tolerable way to drink my vinegar.

Apple Cider has been recommended by my manager at work.
I am health conscious, gym-goer and juvenile insulin dependent diabetic. Just quit alcohol for so many years.

I've been drinking it for three weeks now. Before breakfast I would drink a tall glass of water with one cap of ACV. I am more consistent with it than eating, because I love eating sweets, carbohydrates even with insulin dependency because of my lifestyle-triathlete-doing free running, running, and dance I need carbohydrates.

When I drank ACV, I started to drink it more than three times a day and felt refreshed and felt like I don't really need to drink plenty of water and pee a lot. Now I am more stable and balanced.

Though I haven't got my blood sugar checked, I feel a shift with my mood and endurance. With the high percentage of potassium and vitamins, even when I drink other vitamins, I still drink it as a stabilizer for my blood sugar.

With less carbohydrate intake at night, and two caps of ACV at night, I know I can manage my diabetes. Thank you ACV with the "mother".

Hi, I have been suffering from diabetes Type 2 for the last 5 years.

I have been on medication but these have not helped me at all. My condition is getting worse day by day.

I'm so glad to know that ACV is good for high blood sugar and I will start using it immediately and will post results later.

Thanks everyone for all the information that you have posted on this site. God bless you all.

I am suffering from diabetes from past 16 years and am on oral medicines and Lantus (insulin).

I have just started (3days) with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar before lunch and dinner.
The results in such a short period is amazing.

My early morning blood sugar after using ACV has come down to 90 before was 130-140.
My blood sugar after dinner has come down to 180 before it was 200-220.

Other improvements are :
Stomach feels less bloated.
Heart Burn has decreased.
Feeling more energetic.
Skin feels much better.
My sinus is much better.
My dizzines and headaches have declined.

In such a short time of using ACV its really amazing !!!!

Will continue to take ACV and will again write about it after few days.

Note: I am having American Garden Apple Cider Vinegar 15ml with water before meals twice daily.

I am reading all the comments of the above regarding ACV with a strong belief that ACV does actually work.

Since being diagnosed a type two diabetic, I have always wondered about the effects of a vinegar used as a possible antidote to the complaint. Many say that this condition cannot be reversed. As with negatives there must be a positive.

So far my diabetic nurse has thrown me into Metaformin tablets. No thanks, the effects were as described by my Pharmacist. I nearly threw the prescription in the bin.

I used ACV for coughs with good results years ago, so I was pleased to find that ACV was in use as a diabetic remedy.

I really couldn't believe what I was reading. It sounded to good to be true, and then I tried it.

I am almost speechless and amazed at the success so far.

Only 3 days in and my usual 180-260 readings have been no higher than 145!
There was one exception - I over did it on complex carbs - pinto beans -and despite the ACV it was 212.

I believe the high reading is related to eating a huge GI load of even a medium GI food.

Will 3 Tbls work even better than 2?
How long is ACV effective for? Months or maybe even years?

Thank you for this site!

My morning readings were 155-160 and my doctor wanted to put me on Onglyza. I read the dangerous side effects and was looking for an alternative.

My friend mentioned ACV sometime ago, but I did not try it then. The other night I took 2tbs before going to bed.

The next morning my reading was 126. I was shocked. Today, I took a reading two hours after breakfast and my reading was 128. Normally, I am in the 150's after a meal.

I plan to continue with this as my choice is to die from the diabetes or from the side effects of the medicine.

I have been a Type 2 diabetic for 12 years and have fought the disease with medications (Metformin and Gliclizide).

In February of this year I suffered a heart attack that was treated by drug eluding stent emplacement. My diabetes was not under control for the previous 12 months.

After being released from the hospital I decided to tackle all of my risk factors including the diabetes. To accomplish this I started taking approximately 2 tablespoons of vinegar in 1/2 litre of water with some sort of flavour crystals or liquid Mio. I occasionally use a can of unsweetened iced tea.

My pre-meal numbers prior to starting the vinegar were between 8 and 10 ml/l. Two hours post meal numbers were as high as 15.

The Canadian Diabetes Association says that a diagnosed diabetic should be between 4 and 7 prior to meals and between 5 and 10, two hours after meals.

Since I started taking the vinegar my numbers are consistently within the CDA recommended range.

I have made other life style changes in diet such as eating fish 3-4 times a week, red meat 1 time weekly, and I keep a close watch on my portion sizes. I also exercise for 1 hour daily.

I believe the combination of these changes has resulted in the tight management I am able to accomplish.

As to why Doctors don't seem to buy into ACV as a treatment I have a response. How many apple cider sales men or women visit doctors offices backed by billion dollar companies and produce study results funded by those companies? In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the big drug companies are not somehow suppressing information with respect to the benefits of ACV.

After all the drug companies would rather sell us thousands and thousands of dollars worth of drugs than the 10 cents it costs for a spoonful of vinegar.

I was diagnosed in January of this year. My A1C was 10.3.

My doctor put me on 2000 mg of Metformin a day but I have never gone over 1000 a day. I take 2T of apple cider vinegar in 8 oz of water with a small amount of cinnamon and 2 or 3 drops of Stevia with each meal and before bedtime.

My average blood sugar reading is below 100. My next A1C is in 2 weeks. Plan on going off Metformin but not until after a surgery in April.

I've also lost 35 lbs but my diet has changed dramatically also.

Thank God for ACV

I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver, diabetes and newly found out that i have tumor on my right kidney.

I am taking Metformin 500 mg 2x a day, blood pressure medicine, ASA, digoxin for Afib but I can't take any cholesterol medicine because of my liver.

One of my doctor wants to start me with insulin which I insist.

One of my husband's client, a retired doctor introduced me to apple cider vinegar and olive oil. I did follow his instructions, took it before bedtime and check my sugar the following day.

My regular fasting blood sugar every morning range from 150 to 140, can't believe that the result went down to 120 for just one use.

I will continue to use this everyday and see what my doctor will tell me next time he will check my labs.

I have had diabetes for approximatly 16 yrs.

I had a problem with diabetes medicine, and somewhere read about apple cider vinegar. I have been using it Solely, ever since.

I am obese, and consume lots of sugar in one form or another, yet my numbers are good; my doctor is pleased.

I've spoken to a diabetes dr. and another dr. about cider vinegar, and they pooh-poohed my 'findings' ... Today I spoke with a pharmacist who said he is curious, and will look into it.

Things are changing constantly; it would be beneficial if doctors would have open minds, instead of having an attitude that they know it all.

Recently started taking 2 tablespoons ACV. My blood sugar is improving so much, 180 down to 108. Have cut back on Metformin.

Hope I can completely stop the drug. Also I use Organic Vinegar with mother, and add the Vinegar to 8 oz of V-8 or tomato juice.

Thanks to this web site, I started taking two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (mixed with diet orange soda) at night.

My big problem used to be high levels in the morning (180-190), but now (with rare exception) they average around 110.
And the rare exceptions run up to only 130 or so.

On my own, I cut my Glimipiride dose in half, and there was still no change in good readings.

I'm a convert.

I wanna cry because I've all but given up with my Type 2 Diabetes and now I feel I have hope.

Was diagnosed in 2001 as Type 2 and BS were never in control, no matter what I did! A1c is 14 & BS range is 300-500.

My Dr. wants me to take Novolog now, to get my BS lower. Am also on Janumet & Januvia. I haven't used the Novolog (am so scared of it!) and I've always felt that there HAS to be a natural way to control if not get rid of diabetes!

Because of all the testimonies about ACV & diabetes, I am no longer in despair and will give this remedy a try as well as taking my BS readings again so I can keep track of the changes & progress.

I am starting this in the morning and will be back to report what happens to me. Give me a week or so... I just wanna cry,,,,!

I have been trying the ACV for about 6 days now and am incredibly impressed.

I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for 5 years now. I take 40 mg of Glyburide daily as well as 2500 mg of Metformin daily with 3 daily doses of Apidra insulin, base injection level 28 units, as well as a nighttime injection of Lantus insulin of 76 units.

I have become so insulin resistant that even though I exercise approximately an hour a day, everyday and live on salads and lean meat and berries and not much else at all, my sugars for the last 6 months have never been under 13. (234 on U.S. scale). Let me be clear that is the lowest reading for over 6 months, averaging normally between 15 and 19. (270 and 342 U.S. scale). Morning fasting glucose reading have typically been between 19 and 25. ( 342 to 450 U.S. scale). I had totally given up, I was just waiting to die because I had tried everything I ever heard of, cinnamon etc. with laughable results.

Well thanks to finding this page I have more hope now than ever before since my diagnosis, my sugars have improved so dramatically I cannot believe it. My results the first day were so dramatic I was double checking my readings with two separate glucometers just to be sure.

The first day I pared 16 units off my nighttime Lantus injection because of dramatically improved results. In target for the first time in months and months, incredible. Am presently taking 1 tbs. ACV with meals and at bedtime. I am still fine tuning and may double my nighttime dose because I still rise a lot overnight but nothing like before and remember the dramatic drop in my nighttime insulin dose.

Thank you, thank you for this information. My daughter has already helped other diabetics with incredibly high readings even worse than mine with remarkable results for them as well. I will keep coming here from time to time as I use this miracle ACV remedy to report final doses needed after I discover what is best for me, thanks again.

Began using "Distilled" (white) vinegar on a whim from what I remembered from youth--High blood, etc.

Morning glucose levels no matter how low during the day were always high, until the Vinegar. One tablespoon before bed lowered my level 24 (min) to 50 (max) points!!

This is great news as the "Statins" taken have caused "Proteinuria" and another solution is desperately needed. Will change to Apple Cider (Brown) to see if it makes a difference.

I am grateful for Nature's better remedy as far as I'm concerned.
Please note: The results ARE IMMEDIATE!!

It is a God-send for me at this critical time. Oh yes, BP lower too. "Win-Win" Drs. should recommend this therapy instead of the med inducing synthetics causing the problem in the first place.

I felt like I was dying from this diabetes.

Even large doses of medications did not bring down my blood sugars. I was lethargic and always tired. Dry mouth and would sweat a lot during sleeping.

Started myself on ACV and my life has changed in only 3 days. Anyone with diabetes would be a fool for not trying ACV.

I use 2 tablespoons in a glass of water during meals 3X per day. Most important take 2 tablespoons at bedtime. Take it with a piece of cheese for best results. The taste of ACV is difficult at first but you will get used to it.

I am hoping that using the ACV before meals will help me lose some of this weight since people with PCOS have tend to be insulin resistant.

Impressed. My fasting blood sugar dropped from 189 to 139 in two days with no other change than 3oz of ACV, each in 8oz of water.

No other changes noticed in terms of energy, trips to the bathroom or other.

Now experimenting with 4oz of ACV and a 20 minute brisk walk per day.
